A little while ago there was some talk of making a charging station thats permenant at the field. I have a two used (load tested at 95% capacity) 6 volt interstate golf car batterys that I would like to donate to the club, really have no experience with solar panels or how they are regulated, but it shouldnt be that hard. Maybe with some kind of terminal bar, 5 or 6 chargers could hook up simultaneously, just a thought. When new, the specs were 25 amp load for 474 min. 75 amp load for 122 min. These will be slightly less.

We need a person who knows electrical stuff to set it up. Then, who's going to maintain it. O' there I go looking at the down side. It probably wouldn't take much of a solar panel at all because the batteries would be loaded very infrequently and charged for long periods.

Someone needs to volunteer to build a nice looking housing for the batteries and charging outlets...anyone? It should be easy to choose a useful location.

Try Harbor Freight in Grand Junction. Seems last time I was there thay had a solar panel battery charger, the kind you lay on your dash, and plug into the lighter. It would trickle charge the car battery around $20. I think they had a larger version for farm tractors and such I think it was about $50.00. With both all you have to do is hook to battery.

These are wet lead acid type batterys, so they would need to be in a vented case and topped off with distilled water occasionally, maybe once every 4-6 weeks or so.

I have used the smaller Harbor frieght chargers to maintain lawn mower batteries thru the winter and they need not be protrcted from the elements as they are water proof as delivered. Current pricing 5watt $40 1.5 watt $20. Does not indicate 5 w to be weather tight but could be placed under a shade with leads to box.

Well, a response by 2020 ought to be possible. From my perspective as President I'm just glad to see you guys showing the initiative to work on something like this. Unless we hear real dissent from the other Board members keep going on it.
