I would like to propose an informal IMAC(International Miniture Aerobatic Club) Fun Fly. This would be a Fun Fly based on the "Basic" Pattern from the IMAC website. The main idea for this fun-fly is to have a relaxed environment for the club to enjoy. No hassle, no stress, no competition will be expected. In the Basic class or pattern, in IMAC, you can run what you brung. It does not have to be a scale airplane with a pilot and an instrument panel in place. You may compete with a Sig Kadet Senior if you wish! This airplane, of course, would not be considered the ideal candidate for an aerobatic pattern. Nonetheless, it would complete the Basic pattern for IMAC! The competition would not be scored formally, only informally so you could compare and try to increase your skills as an aerobatic pilot! This type of approach has not been done before, I belive. I think it would allow the first timer to experience the excitement of aerobatic competition without the stress. If anyone is interested, please reply with your thoughts. The IMAC website is: www.mini-iac.com. Check it out!
I've actually never been the type to condone sports where they don't keep score, or be the guy to ensure that everybody goes home a winner.....I'm all competitive, but just to get together with a few guys and run the pattern is probably the best I could ever hope for at our field.
PS....you can critique my flying all you want, I actually seek constructive criticism.
Well, We can use the score cards attached to the Basic Pattern Procedure from the IMAC website but you wouldn't have to if you didn't want to. The whole idea is to allow the competitor to choose to be judged or not. The qualified judges have yet to be determined. One of the prizes would be a couple of Cliff's Hot Dogs! Ar-Arr!
I'm just the opposite of Mike, no competitive genes at all. But, the IMAC action is a great way to improve your flying skills overall. Having someone actually tell me all the things I'm doing wrong would help me feel so much better. No, really it is a good idea. It doesn't take an expensive pattern plane to fly a decent basic pattern; you could do a pretty good job with a 4 star, Super Sportster, Tiger 60, or other similar planes. As for Mike and his plane, he'll have the special requirement of flying the entire basic pattern knife edge.
If we have enough people interested, with some verbal response on this posting, I'll bring the Chateau Briand! No really, how about some BBQ? Pulled Pork sandwiches? Does that sound OK? So at least if you don't do well, we'll make your tummy happy! We should all have a good time and go home satisfied. We need to give Cliff a break from always cooking. The hot dogs are great Ciff, I've always appreciated them.
Thanks, with enough folks interested, we just need to set a date for this. Does the week-end on a Saturday sound good? We'll have to give people a chance to get something ready to fly after the First Fun Fly event, previusly mentioned.
